Consider the equation
$\rho_t + (\rho v)_x = 0,\quad v=\int_{-\infty}^{\infty} f_s(x-y)\rho(y)dy\equiv f_s\star \rho.$
Here $f_s$ should be positive for small positive argument to be short range repulsive and long range attractive. Using the Morse kernel,
$f_s(x) = \mbox{sgn}(x)\left[-Fe^{-|x|/L}+e^{-|x|} \right ].$
We can have decaying solution, steady solutions, or blowup at one or two points.

For decaying solution, we can investigate the long wave instability
