Paul Martin has broad interests in theoretical physics. Hehas made lasting contributions in the fields of nuclear, atomic, and condensedmatter physics. After twenty years of heavy involvement in universityadministration, he is resuming research on complex non- equilibrium phenomena.Professor Martin’s earlier work on many-body systems, hydrodynamics, bosecondensation, non-equilibrium dynamics, chaos, and turbulence is central tomuch current work on these topics. He plans to work on problems where recentexperimental research has rekindled interest and highlighted unresolvedproblems. In particular, he plans to investigate the dynamics of the formationof bose condensates and related dynamical critical phenomena. He will also beworking on ways to characterize rigorously and to calculate systematically“nearly coherent” classical electromagnetic phenomena.
Over the past two decades, as past Dean of Engineering andApplied Sciences, Professor Martin has been exposed to a much wider range ofresearch – in areas that include complex materials, hydrology and flow throughporous media, dynamic meteorology and environmental modeling, algorithms andhigh-speed digital network congestion, devices and signals – as well as to ahost of problems involving history, policy, and education in science andtechnology. In each of these areas, problems have arisen to which he fancied hecould contribute. In collaborations with students and colleagues he may.

一个物理系本科生飘过,要研究生物物理了哈哈。生命科学老师的原话是“现在生物学单凭生物的方法很难发展”嘻嘻
